The Bag I Never Found

For years, I searched for a bag that truly suited me – practical, durable, and with all the right compartments and details. Something was always not quite right.

As a student, I also had limited space and no access to large tools or a workshop. It was during this time that I discovered many leather goods are traditionally handmade anyway, using comparatively simple means. This made me curious to try it myself.

To this day, I still hand-sew my wallets because I am convinced of their quality and feel. This direct work with the material has remained an important part of my process. I still carry the first bags I made today.

The Joy of Tinkering

With my first own products, I quickly realized that I not only enjoyed the craft itself, but above all, the conception.

For me, it's about designing products so that they truly work – in everyday life, in use, and in detail. Which construction fits? What steps result from that? Which techniques are best for implementing an idea – or do I perhaps need a method I don't even know yet?

Losing myself in such thoughts has become my favorite retreat over the years. When I work on new products, I can switch off and fully concentrate on what is currently being created – with all its facets and nuances. The quiet execution has always had something meditative about it for me.

From Experiment to Own Brand

At some point, what started as experimenting grew into more than just a hobby. I consciously decided to leave my job and turn crafting into my profession.

A significant part of this decision was the conviction that there are enough other people who appreciate well-thought-out, honest products like these – things whose origin is clear, that one enjoys using daily, and whose creation one can follow.

At the same time, I wanted to maintain this enthusiasm for designing and developing products without becoming a classic fast-fashion brand (not that I, as one man, could operate as such if I wanted to). That's why my sewing patterns and YouTube tutorials came into being, as a perfect excuse to implement new ideas and support people who, like me, have developed a passion for crafting. This way, they can partake in my products and designs, even without having to buy a bag from me.

Individual customer commissions are also part of it for me, because they always bring new challenges and give other people the same fulfillment that my own bags have given me.

At its core, this has become my personal motivation: to create products that not only function but accompany people for a long time – and that fit the person, not the other way around.

About me

In addition to craftsmanship, I also have a background in computer science. Looking back, this way of thinking – structured, solution-oriented, and systematic – probably also greatly influenced how I work today.

Outside the workshop, I read a lot (especially fantasy) and have a small hobby workshop where I occasionally build furniture.

I also feel like I grew up on a campsite and still love to go on tours with my van and explore new areas.

My mission

I design and make each piece myself, not to chase trends, but to create things that last. Even today, I still carry the first bag I ever made, and it holds so many memories. That's exactly the feeling I want to share: things you cherish. Because the best bags aren't just carried; they accompany you for a lifetime and become cherished possessions.
